Portraits of my closest friends
2022 -2024 This series of works tells the story of those who made the difficult decision to leave our country indefinitely and start life from scratch in order to be safe after a full scale invasion. There are portraits of Ukrainian women who already lost their homes in 2014 when their native cities - Donetsk, Luhansk, Sevastopol, and others - were occupied. In their forced, already second new lives, each one took a remainder of home that they've kept as an amulet for a long time - a small passport photo of their mother, a key to an apartment that no longer exists, pebbles from the beach in Simeiz, ect.
