fragile!
Installation: glass plates with a photo emulsion transferred onto them. For this installation, photographs of the city's mosaic elements were transferred onto glass to emphasize their fragility. Mosaics are a unique form of art that, together with various types of architecture in public space, creates something new and unique.Every year, news about the destruction of examples of Ukrainian modernism appears more and more often. In total, before the war, experts counted nearly 600 mosaics, of which about 30 were destroyed in Mariupol in 2022. Some are in occupied cities and there is no information about their condition. But in the territory of free Ukraine this year alone, due to ignorance and carelessness, the following were destroyed: a mosaic by Bohdan Soyka in Lviv in the building of the "Free Ukraine" publishing house, a work by Ivan Klyapetura in the premises of the Kamianets-Podilskyi fire station, as well as a mosaic panel in the fire station No. 26 in Kyiv. Today, mosaics need legal status and until this is done we will continue to lose works of art one by one.
